12 New TV Series to Give A Chance This Fall

We’ve given you some of the, at this point, veteran television series that have proven themselves to be quality entertainment with their popularity and longevity, that will be returning to the small screen this fall. Now it’s time to check out a few of the new series that are hoping to join those ranks. If the trailers are anything to go by, these series just might make it there. But we won’t know until we watch! Check out the list below.


The First – September 14th

Will Air On: Hulu

Genre: Drama, Science Fiction

Starring: Sean Penn, Natascha McElhone, LisaGay Hamilton, Oded Fehr, James Ransone, Hannah Ware, Anna Jacoby-Heron and Keiko Agena.

Synopsis: The First will follow “the first human mission to Mars, while exploring the challenges of taking the first steps toward interplanetary colonization. The story focuses not only on the astronauts, but also on their families and loved ones, as well as the ground team on Earth.”

Forever – September 14th

Will Air On: Amazon Video

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph.

Synopsis: Married couple June (Rudolph) and Oscar (Armisen) live a comfortable but predictable life in suburban Riverside, CA. For 12 years they’ve had the same conversations, eaten the same meals and taken pleasant vacations at the same rented lake house. But after June talks Oscar into shaking things up with a ski trip, the pair find themselves in completely unfamiliar territory.

 

The Good Cop – September 21st

Will Air On: Netflix

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Josh Groban and Tony Danza.

Synopsis: This hourlong dramedy procedural from Monk creator Andy Breckman stars Tony Danza and Josh Groban as father-and-son cops. It’s based on an Israeli series.

 

Maniac – September 21st

Will Air On: Netflix

Genre: Dark Comedy

Starring: Emma Stone and Jonah Hill.

Synopsis: Maniac follows “Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim, two strangers drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial, each for their own reasons. Annie’s disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and her sister; Owen, the fifth son of wealthy New York industrialists, has struggled his whole life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia. Neither of their lives have turned out quite right, and the promise of a new, radical kind of pharmaceutical treatment—a sequence of pills its inventor, Dr. James K. Mantleray, claims can repair anything about the mind, be it mental illness or heartbreak—draws them and ten other strangers to the facilities of Neberdine Pharmaceutical and Biotech for a three-day drug trial that will, they’re assured, with no complications or side-effects whatsoever, solve all of their problems, permanently.”

 

Manifest – September 24th

Will Air On: NBC

Genre: Drama

Starring: Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Parveen Kaur and Luna Blaise.

Synopsis: When Montego Air Flight 828 lands after a turbulent but otherwise routine flight, the 191 passengers and its crew learn that while only a few hours passed for them, the rest of the world has considered them missing—and presumed dead—for over five years. As the passengers try to reintegrate themselves into the world, some of them experience strange phenomena, leading them to believe “they may be meant for something greater than they ever thought possible.”

New Amsterdam – September 25th

Will Air On: NBC

Genre: Drama

Starring: Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher and Tyler Labine.

Synopsis: New Amsterdam follows Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) as he becomes the medical director of one of the United States’ oldest public hospitals, aiming to reform the neglected facility to provide exceptional care to patients.

Single Parents – September 26th

Will Air On: ABC

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Taran Killam, Leighton Meester, Kimrie Lewis, Jake Choi, Marlow Barkley, Tyler Wladis, Devin Trey Campbell, Mia Allan, Ella Allan and Brad Garrett.

Synopsis: The series begins when the group meets Will, a 30-something guy who’s been so focused on raising his daughter that he’s lost sight of who he is as a man. When the other single parents see just how far down the rabbit hole of PTA, parenting and princesses Will has gone, they band together to get him out in the dating world and make him realize that being a great parent doesn’t mean sacrificing everything about your own identity.

 

I Feel Bad – October 4th

Will Air On: NBC

Genre: Comedy

Starring: Sarayu Blue, Paul Adelstein, Aisling Bea, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton and James Buckley.

Synopsis: I Feel Bad follows Emet, a wife, mother, and career woman who “feels bad” when she deviates from her own standards of perfection while trying to “have it all.”

Legacies – October 25th

Will Air On: The CW

Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Supernatural

Starring: Danielle Rose Russell, Matt Davis, Kaylee Bryant, Jenny Boyd, Aria Shahghasemi, Quincy Fouse and Peyton Alex Smith.

Synopsis: Legacies follows Hope Mikaelson, the “tribrid” daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall, who is descended from some of the most powerful vampire, werewolf, and witch bloodlines. Two years after the events of The Originals, 17-year-old Hope attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. The school provides a haven where beings such as vampires, witches, and werewolves can learn to control their supernatural abilities and impulses.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – October 26th

Will Air On: Netflix

Genre: Drama, Horror, Mystery, Supernatural

Starring: Kiernan Shipka, Jaz Sinclair, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Lucy Davis, Miranda Otto, Richard Coyle, Ross Lynch and Tati Gabrielle.

Synopsis: Sabrina Spellman must reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

 

Escape at Dannemora – November 18th

Will Air On: Showtime

Genre: Drama

Starring: Benicio del Toro, Patricia Arquette, Paul Dano and Carmine Paladino.

Synopsis: “Escape at Dannemora is based on the headline-making true story of a 2015 prison break in upstate New York, which spawned a massive manhunt for two convicted murderers who were aided in their escape by a married female prison employee with whom they both became sexually entangled.”
