In a video posted to the Barbados Crop Over Festival Facebook page, the National Cultural Foundation tonight announced the seventeen semifinalist for the Party Monarch and Sweet Soca competitions. Each competition has one reserve. The two competitions, which are held together in an event called Soca Royale, will take place on July 29th at Bushy Park. The winner of last year’s Party Monarch competition was Lil Rock with his hit, “Energy”, and the winner of last year’s Sweet Soca competition was Red Plastic Bag with “Boat Ride.”
