The much anticipated feature of video calling was made available on the Whatsapp messaging platform this week; it’s now being rolled out to Android, iPhone and Windows phone users, so if you do not currently have the feature, you justneed to update to make your first video call. If your iOS or Android device is not set to receive automatic updates, or if you are not sure if WhatsApp has been updated, simply go to the App Store or Google Play and check for available updates.
Please keep in mind, this feature comes as an official update from the appstore. It is not something you need to sign up for, press any link sent via whatsapp, or any other random thing you hear about apart from simply updating the application. Seems to be a coming thing whenever there is a new feature on the service, spam starts to go around encouraging users to click or send it in order to activate a feature. Only download updates from official sources.
Here’s how to make a video call within WhatsApp if you have the updated version to the app:
- Open WhatsApp
- Go to the Contacts tab
- Find and tap the contact you want to initiate a WhatsApp video call with
- Tap on the phone icon towards the top of the screen
- From the popup choose Video call
